Chelsea’s Nigerian-born midfielder, Ross Barkley has received an update in the coin throwing incident that hit him last weekend, as England’s Football Association have opened investigation into the matter.
Sports247.ng gathered that England’s FA are investigating allegations that a coin was thrown at Barkley during Sunday’s game against his former club, Everton.
The FA were made aware of the incident and have written to both clubs for their observations, while Everton also disclosed that they are equally investigating the alleged incident and reviewing footage.
Barkley returned to Goodison Park for the first time on Sunday since he left Everton to join Chelsea for £15m in January 2018.
He will also take succour from a statement by his former club, which went on to reveal: “If anyone is found responsible for this or other such incidents, the club will take robust action.”
