Nigerian sprinter Rosemary Chukwuma kicked off her outdoor season with a strong performance, winning the women’s 100m at the Battle on the Bayou in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Chukwuma clocked an impressive 11.08 seconds, albeit with a strong tailwind of +5.6m/s, making the mark ineligible for record purposes.

She finished ahead of Jassani Carter, who secured second place in 11.11 seconds, while fellow Nigerian sprinter Tima Godbless claimed third place in 11.20 seconds.
Meanwhile, Justina Eyakpobeyan of the University of Southern California (USC) also had a notable outing, winning her own 100m section in 11.32 seconds with a legal wind reading of +2.8m/s.
Chukwuma’s victory highlights her potential for the season ahead, as she continues to build on her reputation as one of Nigeria’s top female sprinters. With the outdoor season now in full swing, fans and analysts will be keen to see how she progresses in upcoming competitions.
