Amidst eye brows raised over the contractual issues between the Nigerian Football Federation and Gernot Rohr, the German has indicated that he will sign the new contract offered to him by the NFF.
The national team technical adviser chatted with journalists via social media and had this to say, ‘I don’t want more money, I don’t want more bonuses, I don’t want anything special, I only want to work free, like I could work with the success I had in the last three years’.
Earlier in the week, NFF president, Amaju Pinnick made it clear that the German must accept the terms in the new contract which includes staying in Nigeria, being paid in the local currency, nurturing local players and monitoring the NPFL if he wants to remain as the head of the national team.
Since becoming Nigeria national team head coach in 2016, rohr has won 29 matches, drawn 11 and lost 9 while qualifying the team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and winning bronze medal at 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The 66 years old tactician’s current contract expires in June.
