Rohr charges Eagles goalkeepers to emulate Ter Stegen.

Super Eagles tactician Gernot Rohr has urged goalkeepers, Daniel Akpeyi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Francis Uzoho to emulate Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Sports247 reports.

The former Niger Republic manager revealed this in an award event held in Berlin, where ter Stegen won the Audience Award, in which tens of thousands of fans participated via online voting.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rohr described the German shot-stopper as an elite goalkeeper and one which should be a role model for the national team goalkeepers ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

”He is a modern day goalkeeper, he is the role model for my three goalkeepers of the national team of Nigeria,” Rohr said.

”In addition, it was impressive how ter Stegen with much will, but also modesty has become a major goalkeeper.”

25-year-old ter Stegen joined Barcelona from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach in 2014 and has helped the Spanish side win thirteen trophies, including the 2015 Champions League.

Meanwhile, the trio of Akpeyi, Ezenwa and Uzoho are included in Rohr’s provisional 25-man list for the Nations Cup and are expected to make the final squad barring any pre-tournament injury.
