As part of the rebuilding process of the Super Eagles since the appointment of a new coach and the disappointment accompanied by missing a ticket to the world cup, it’s no news that the Nigerian team will be engaging in a series of friendly matches in the coming weekend. The earliest being against South American giants, Mexico.
Quite a number of the team is made up of home-based players and two of such is from Rivers United as the club has showered praises on their own. The two players join Nigeria’s squad that departed for the United States of America ahead of the International friendlies.
Ishaq Rafiu Kayode joins Chiamaka Madu and six other NPFL stars in Jose Peseiro’s squad for the forthcoming International friendlies against Mexico at the AT & T Stadium in Dallas, Texas on Sunday, May 29 at about 1 am, West African Time, and against Ecuador on Friday, June 3, 1:30 am, West African Time, at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.
In the messages across Rivers United’s social media platforms, the media officer of the club, Charles Mayuku congratulated the lads on making the team and hoping to see them play for their country as players of Rivers United “Congratulations to two of our players and we look forward to watching them in action for the Super Eagles of Nigeria”
These two friendly matches will be the baptism of fire for the new coaching crew of the Super Eagles and also the first the team will engage in since their ouster from the world cup by Ghana’s Black Stars.
