The management of Rivers United FC have been made aware of allegations by Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi, in some sections of the media that their players were prevented from having their training session at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, sports247.ng can report
It was also alleged that fans of Rivers United were responsible for the alleged actions.
The management of the Porthacourt outfit in a press release signed by the media officer of the club, Sammy Wejinya said:
“We wish to categorically state that these allegations are baseless”
“Rivers United remains an exemplary football institution with a history of peace loving fans and supporters who will never involve themselves in acts that will bring the game to disrepute”
“We also wish to add that in the history of the existence of Rivers United FC, at no time has the club been sanctioned for breaches as far as hooliganism or fans misconduct by the League Management Company (LMC)”
“We urge Lobi Stars to desist from peddling such accusations which are capable of smearing the excellent track record of Rivers United FC”
