The former Kano Pillars striker emphasized the motivation within the team and their determination to achieve success in the upcoming fixture.
“The best motivation you can get is the one you give to yourself, and we know what is at stake. This is Rivers United, every player in the camp is mentally and physically prepared and we know we are on the verge of making history and it comes with a task which is for us to work very hard and try to get a good result at home.
Nwagua highlighted the significance of the match, noting that it transcends just Rivers United, as it represents Nigeria against Algeria. Despite acknowledging the strength of their opponents, he stressed the team’s readiness to face the challenge head-on.
“This is not just about Rivers United anymore; this is Nigeria versus Algeria, and our reputation is also at stake. I have no disrespect to Algiers and I know it’s a good side as a defending champion but if you have to be in this competition you have to beat the best to be in the competition so right now we know that’s what we have to do for us to go to the next stage and we have to try to get a good result at home and try not to concede so that we can actually consolidate with anything we get on Sunday here in Nigeria when we go to Algeria.
Nwagua urged fans and supporters to believe in the team and offer their prayers, emphasizing their collective goal of elevating Nigerian football to greater heights.
“So we are urging our fans and everybody to believe in us and pray for us, and by the special grace of God, we will take Nigeria higher and higher.”
Nwagua’s words reflect the determination and resolve within the Rivers United camp as they prepare to face USM Algers in what promises to be an exhilarating encounter in the CAF Confederations Cup quarterfinals.
