Rivers Hoopers BC of Port Harcourt captain, Anthony Koko Victor has taken up a sarcastic viewpoint in reaction to enquiries concerning a commencement date for the new Nigeran Premier Basketball League season.
Sports247 reports that, with the dunk off for the 2025 season having already suffered a number of postponements, Anthony is sceptical about the league even holding at all this year, but quickly interjected that such oddities in Nigerian sports no longer surprise him.
The Hoopers’ skipper stressed that the only time he would agree that the season is eventually going to start is when he hears a blast of the jump ball whistle and then sees players actually getting into action on the basketball court.
“Saying they will dunk off next month or next quarter is not an issue for me. It’s just a matter that Nigeria is no longer surprising me, because they keep doing miraculous things.
This is in a sense that they can tell you A today, but tomorrow you’ll see B of C. That’s why, for me, I’m not going to say anything until I hear them finally say, ‘Today is the jump ball.’ That’s when I’ll believe that the season will really start on the day they say it would,” Anthony submitted with a smirk
