This strategic move, alongside the unveiling of a new head coach, highlights the club’s determination to reclaim league glory.

Afolabi’s football journey took off three seasons ago at Delta Queens, where her exceptional performances earned her a starting spot and eventually the captain’s armband. Her leadership was crucial in guiding Delta Queens to the NWFL Premiership title in 2023 and securing a place in the WAFU B Champions League in Benin.

The midfielder first rose to national prominence during the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in India, playing a key role in the Flamingos’ historic third-place finish.

Among her standout contributions was a breathtaking 25-yard goal against New Zealand, widely celebrated as one of the finest goals of the tournament. The Flamingos’ campaign also featured remarkable victories over powerhouse teams like the USA and Germany.
