Semi-final matches of this year’s Federation Cup competition for men and women will hold on Wednesday, with the exception of the clash between Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens in the female cadre.
The encounter, set for Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, has been put on hold as NFF’s Disciplinary Committee meets on Wednesday on a protest filed by Sunshine Queens of Akure, against two Rivers Angels’ players.
Sports247.ng gathered that the Federation Cup women champions had beaten Sunshine Queens 2-0 in the quarter finals, only for the Akure side to protest over elligibility of two of the winning team’s players.
Should Rivers Angels scale through the protest, they will now line out against Bayelsa Queens on Friday, 12th October.
On the other and, in the men’s event, Kano Pillars, who overpowered CAF Confederation Cup semi finalists, Enyimba FC in the quarter finals, will light up Agege Stadium, Lagos against Katsina United.
At Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, five-time champs, Rangers International will lock horns with Nasarawa United, who got the better of El-Kanemi Warriors in the last eight.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi confirmed that the final of the women’s competition will hold on 23rd October at Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
He also said the men’s final will be played at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State on Wednesday, 24th October.
