Vandrezzer FC is pleased to announce the employment of a Sport Science Director. He is Chris Barnes.
Barnes is a renowned, England-based expert with over 20 years of experience in Sports Science. He holds two Master Degrees in Exercise and Sport Science as well as Business Management.

He’s also an International Sports Science consultant who has worked with CAF and UEFA, as well as clubs like Queens Park Rangers, West Bromwich Albion, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United,
Great Britain Basketball Association, The English Rugby Football League among others.
The renowned sports science expert will work with the VFC academy to actualise the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) strategy which focuses on developing better homegrown players. These players will be groomed in our academy which through systemic development, we expect to assume a Category 1 status in the nearest future.
He will also be in charge of implementing an effective sports science framework for first-team players and staff, interpretation and analysis of individual and team data, maximisation of athletic potential of players on and off the pitch of play as per physical fitness, injury crisis management, nutrition, sleep, recovery, mental health among other roles.
Additionally, he will coordinate the mentorship of Elite Performance staff at Vandrezzer FC, a role he previously played at Manchester City, Arsenal, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Leeds United, and Everton.
In April 2020, Vandrezzer FC had taken delivery of four units of world-class Artificial Intelligence-powered VEO cameras, which will assist in gathering scientific data for post-match/training analysis and improvement in players’ performance. Also acquired are football GPS performance tracker vests which use the latest GPS and sensor technology to accurately track players’ fitness and other multi-million-naira worth of training equipment.
All these will come in handy and effective with Barnes, expertise on the ground.
