Remo Stars FC of Ikenne’s tactician, Coach Daniel Ogunmodede has declared that he and his players will be ready for any tricks that ASFAR of Morocco may unleash on them in the return leg of their CAF Champions League fixture.
Sports247.ng reports that, although Remo Stars eked out a 2-1 win from Sunday’s first leg, Ogunmodede admitted that his side will need to be very cautious for the reverse fixture, but also assured that he has already started working on a winning strategy.
Heading into the game billed for this weekend in Morocco, Daniel Ogunmodede further disclosed that he has already set in motion a strategy that will outwit the coy North Africans and twart all their antics.
He began by stating his appreciation with the slim victory enacted ny his team at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne on Sunday, but admitted that his players took their feet off the pedal earlier in the first half.
Ogunmodede responded in a tone of delight laced with disappointment, as he said: “We are happy we won. They are the first team that gave us defeat in the continent, and I am very happy we gave it back to them.
“Nevertheless, the first ten minutes were so scary for us. We slept, and we were waiting to enter the game, but they caught us unawares.
“That was why they scored their equaliser, and it was the worst moment for us in the game.
“It was bad because we know how important it is not to allow your opponent score in your home ground.
“Overall, in the first half, we had a very good game, and we scored an early goal, but we showed too much respect for them after scoring.
“The boys were too careful. They selected their decisions with the fear of not conceding a goal. But, overall, we got the maximum points.”
Ogunmodede then unfolded his plans for the reverse fixture, which he admitted should be tougher, but revealed a big weakness of ASFAR that he will try to exploit.
“In the second leg, we expect them to make a lot of mistakes that they are used to.
“Both on and off the pitch, we saw their antics, and we are ready for that. We’ll be so much prepared for it as much as we can.
“Secondly, what we expect on our side is improving our attack and finishing in front of goal. We are not going there to sit back.
“We will deal with every moment of the game as they come. At the time we need to defend, we will defend.
“We will attack when we need to attack, keep the ball when necessary, and stay focused all through the match,” Ogunmodede reasoned.
He will also be counting on skipper of the side, Nduka Junior to again play an inspirational role in Morocco, as it was the captain who got the opening goal after just 16 minutes of the game on Sunday in Ikenne.
