Remo Stars Turn Their Fury On Shooting Stars, Following 2-0 Loss Away To Katsina United

Remo Stars FC of Ikenne will this Wednesday unleash their fury on Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, as they aim to make up for last weekend’s 2-0 loss away to Katsina United.

Sports247.ng reports that the dedeat in Katsina meant Remo Stars dropped from top spot in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), and they now aim to use their midweek home tie to recover lost ground.

This was made known by Remo Stars’ first assistant coach, Sulaiman Afolarin, who admitted that beating The Oluyole Warriors is very important to his side’s title ambitions.

Although he described last weekend’s match at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina as a good game, Afolarin scolded his players for losing many scoring chances in the first half.

Afolarin rationalised, “It wasn’t a bad game. We were only unlucky, especially in the first half.

“We had two clear chances to be on top by at least 2-0 in the first half, but we couldn’t convert them.

“In the second half, they then took their chances, and the story changed. That was all.”

Afolarin also noted that the NPFL title chase is getting tougher and admitted that his side must keep winning and not rely on their rivals dropping points in order for Kunle Soname’s team to emerge champions.

“I don’t know about the results of other centres. We must concentrate on our own games.

“At the same time, we can’t depend only on our home matches for us to win the league.

“We don’t want to leave first position, but this result is very unfortunate,” Afolarin conceded.

He then turned attention on their next game and affirmed that defeating 3SC on Wednesday is imperative for his side.

Afolarin declared, “We are going back home to make sure we defeat Shooting Stars. That’s a local derby on Wednesday.”
