Remo Stars are on the cusp of clinching their first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, following a hard-fought 1-0 away win over Shooting Stars in Ibadan — a game played behind closed doors.
With just 12 points left to play for, the win keeps Remo Stars seven points clear of second-placed Rivers United, who also secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Sunshine Stars in Port Harcourt.

However, should Remo win their next home game against Niger Tornadoes and Rivers United lose away to Kano Pillars, the title race would be mathematically over — crowning Remo champions with three matches to spare.
The decisive goal came from Alex Oyowah, who buried a cross from Ismail Sodiq to secure what was Remo’s sixth league double of the season. The victory not only solidified their lead but also underscored their consistency throughout the campaign.
Meanwhile, Ikorodu City stayed in the hunt for a continental spot after holding El Kanemi to a 1-1 draw. Enugu Rangers stole the show over the weekend with a commanding 4-2 win over Lobi Stars in Makurdi, further tightening the race for top positions.
