J. Atete Football Club has forced Remo Stars FC to a goalless draw at the Gateway International Stadium Sagamu in the match day three of the ongoing Nigeria National League (NNL).
Following match day two off for the Sky Blue Stars last weekend, the home side started the match like a house on fire, while the visitors absorbed the challenges to pick up a point on the road.
The Sky Blue Stars had two brilliant chances to go ahead in the first ten minutes through Odu Robert Jaguar and Nwautobo Miracle couldn’t put the ball at the back of the opponent’s net.
The home side continued to pressure on the visitors and Gidado Toyeeb was gifted a chance to slot home from close range but was infringed and the referee overlooked for continuous play.
On the dot of half an hour, the visitors came close through Edje Samson after reaching a loose ball, but he ballooned the ball over the bar.
In the second half, the Sky Blue Stars came close yet again through Adedayo Olamilekan, he pounced on a loose ball but Efevwerha Joke reflexes assisted him to parry the ball for a corner kick.
J. Atete FC had their first attempt in the second half after Ovotu Abel picked a loose ball to break the deadlock but Kayode Bankole threw himself at the ball to maintain his hundred percent clean sheet.
The introduction of Agbeko Morgan brought much bite to the attacking spree as he forced his past the visitor’s defense to record his name on the goalscorers sheet but his attempt hit the side net.
In the final minutes of the game, Donnatus Itumo got an open cheque to ruin the bank of the visitors, he anxiously took a shot and was well covered by Efevwerha Joke to end the game on a goalless level.
