Almeria forward Umar Sadiq has been named the LaLiga 2 Player of the Month for February 2022.
He beat off competition from SD Huesca’s Jaime Seoane and SD Eibar’s Jose Corpas to win the award. The 25-year-old enjoyed a good run during the month which saw him score in every game, helping his side to four wins.
Sadiq scored five goals and claimed two assists for Almeria in February, starting with a late goal against UD Ibiza in the first game of the month.
He produced a back-to-back match-winning display, scoring the only goal against Malaga before netting a brace against Mirandes to help his side to a 2-1 home win. The Nigerian striker won two penalties and found the back of the net again in a 3-1 victory against Fuenlabrada to complete a spectacular month for him.
He has recorded 13 goals and 7 assists in 25 Spanish segunda division games this season. Sadiq is leading the way for Almeria as they look to gain promotion to La Liga this season. They currently sit in the second position on the table after 30 matches played.
