Barely a week after Nigeria’s sports minister, Sunday Dare showered encomium on track and field sensation Tobi Amusan,
Tobi is at it again as she keeps breaking new grounds in the 100m huddles events in the National Athletes Trails holding in Edo State, Nigeria.
The reigning African and Common Wealth Games champion has set up a class of her own as she dashed far ahead of Grace Ayemoba and Stella Ayanleke when she ran a 12.54s to set a new Championship record and retaining the title as well.
The 25 year-old emphasizes the fact that she was shocked at the times she finishes on the clock recently. Speaking to press men after her record breaking Performance Amusan stresses that there is difference between her executing her race and keeping tabs of the time.
“I am here to execute my race and let the time take care of itself. Setting a new record is special to me though but execution matters. Everytime I complete, I wasn’t always worried running fast to beat the time, I just want to get a clean race and get the win. When I broke the African record, I was kind of shocked”
The fast rising sprinter didn’t hide her admiration of having her mother watch her when she runs as she dedicated her win to her .” I dedicate my Victory to my mom. She has been very supportive to me and watching me run gives me motivation” she concluded.
