National coordinator and head of protocols FCAAN in Nigeria, Coach Fatai Smith has given a comprehensive details of all there is to know about the FCAAN coaching programs with courses offered alongside it’s UEFA grading system as a viable platform for training coaches in Africa.
FCAAN is a platform where coaches are trained with the idea founded in US birthed by a consultant with the Nigerian Football Federation in the person of Doctor Terry with series of courses from the grassroots to the Pro Level, Sports247.ng writes.
Fatai spoke about all the various levels of the program, he said, from the grassroots, we have the F’Course which is one day coaching program like an introduction after which we have an E’ Course, the residential course, residential three days coaching program like an advanced course.”
“There’s also the D which is the third level of the FCAAN coaching certification which is the small intro going into the Pro Level and also we have the C’ Course, B’ Course which is going to be happening in Nigeria for the very first time around early December and the C also will be happening late November,” he explained.
“These are courses for top NPFL coaches talking about the level of the C and B so the D that we just concluded is like the first level of when you come to the Pro and FCAAN curriculum is so rich to the extent that you just need to experience it,” Fatai encouraged.
“Like I said, it’s a six days course, 6 days and 5 nights residential where we have the lecture in the IVS club in Lagos and the curriculum is the main thing about FCAAN.”
The whole idea is for Nigeria and Africans in general to be able to train young coaches so that they can handle the national teams and develop young ones right from the grassroots with the modern style of coaching.
“With FCAAN, it’s just the beginning and we thank Lagos State Football Association, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi who sent his representative in person of Mr. Dotun Coker who graced the final day.’
“I’m just hoping a lot of our coaches can get into the FCAAN family, get upgraded and keep developing our young ones in the right way so that we can impact our national team well in the whole proceedings of player developments.”
Notably, the only course not done in Nigeria is B which is going to be done in November.
“FCAAN is being graded by UEFA because you have to meet up the coaching hours to be able to be graded. So everything is standard.”
“We are just lucky to have such platforms to develop ourselves and our friends, young ones and to make the football community have the very best of development and coaching education so that at the end of the day, we can have quality players in our national teams to make the country proud,” he concluded.
