Goalkeeper Kabiru Mohammed felt Rarara “deserved qualification” to the Ahlan Cup Pre Season Tournament semi-final and got the better of Kwara United with “heart” at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Monday afternoon.
The underdogs defended in numbers and stretched the game to penalties before winning 1-3.
Goalkeeper Kabiru Mohammed was the hero as he saved kicks from Sunday Emmanuel and Adah Stephen.
The net minder was voted man of the match following his heroics.
“It’s a very emotional moment. I expressed my thoughts that wearing this jersey is something very special, so to play such an important part means a great deal to me,” Kabiru Mohammed told Ahlan Cup Media.
“I think people ought to really compliment this squad, because heart keeps you going and there’s no stopping it. We deserved this victory and also had a bit of luck.”
“I’ve always said this is a fantastic group. We also know that we’ve achieved nothing yet. This Rarara team can fight it out with anyone.”
Rarara FC will face Elkanemi Warriors in the semi-final at the Kano Pillars Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
