Rangers’ Players Have Winning Mentality – Ogunbote

Rangers International of Enugu coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has declared that his side were able to hold their own away to CS Sfaxien of Tunisia in the CAF Confederation Cup because his players have a winning mentality.

Although The Flying Antelopes could not win the game, and settled for a 1-1 draw, sports247.ng can report that Ogunbote reckons that their ability to storm back from a goal down speaks volumes for the team.

The veteran coach added that the match turned out to be less tedious than he feared heading into the game in Sfax, but says that is not to say their hosts failed to fight.

On the contrary, Ogunbote, who led Sunshine Stars of Akure to the semi-finals of both continental club champions, back-to-back five years ago, pointed out that no match is easy, but admits Rangers did the best they could under the circumstances they faced in Tunisia.

Ogunbote posited: “It was a good game; no one expected it to be easy (but) we thought it would be more difficult.
“We were playing against a team that has won the CAF Confederation Cup before.
“The winning mentality exists in our team. The moment we conceded, we knew that we cannot lose to CS Sfaxien.
“You say Rangers, you never say die. We managed to take back home one point and that’s a positive result.”
