The Flying Antelopes, fresh off their record eighth NPFL title win, are eyeing the talented player to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
Ekawu, a 19-year-old central midfielder, has been a standout performer for Doma United during the 2023/2024 NPFL campaign. The young talent’s ability to create opportunities and control the midfield has caught the attention of scouts and top clubs.
Rangers International, led by coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, are eager to secure Ekawu’s signature. Negotiations are underway, and the club hopes to finalize the deal this week. The transfer would mark a significant step for both the player and Rangers, who are already guaranteed a spot in the CAF Champions League next season.
Doma United, known as the Savannah Tigers, gained promotion to the NPFL in 2022 and finished a commendable fifth in their debut season. Ekawu’s departure would be a loss for the Gombe-based club, but it highlights their commitment to nurturing young talent and competing at the highest level.
