NPFL top side, Rangers International F.C continued its preseason activities with a deserved 3-1 win over Enugu Armature side, Great Achievers F.C of Emene on Friday, at the Rangers Training Pitch, Enugu.
Julius Ikechukwu continued his fine form in the preseason with a well-struck shot from over twenty-seven meters that sailed past the groping hands of the opponent’s shot-stopper in 17 minutes.
The goal brought out the fighting spirit in the armature side as they took the battle to the half of their more experienced opponent and would have been level on 20 and 22 minutes but the brilliance of goalkeeper, Emeka Nwabulu came in handy as he did well to keep out two efforts that many thoughts were already in the net.
Saidu Adamu jumped the highest to nod home a well-taken corner-kick supplied by FIFA World cup star, Ejike Uzoenyi in 47 minutes for the second goal while substitute, Inemesit Sunday, further extended the lead in the 56th minute after he was set up by Julius Ikechukwu.
Kadiri Danjuma pulled a goal back for the Emene side in the 70th minute from the penalty spot after a player was adjudged to have been fouled in the box.
There were chances to further punish the armature side but Shedrack Asiegbu’ well-struck half-volley hit the crossbar and bounced back to play while Inemesit Sunday also saw his effort saved on the line by the goalkeeper.
