Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has stated that the club will not stand in the way of Joe Aribo’s desire to play in the English Premier League.
Aribo is poised to leave Rangers, which he joined from Charlton Athletic in 2019. The Nigerian international will join Southampton in the Premier League for a rumored £10 million-plus add-ons.
Van Bronckhorst has praised Aribo’s ‘fantastic’ contribution to the Ibrox side while also insisting that the club will not stand in his way as he prepares to embark on a new adventure in the Premier League.
He told Sky Sports: “Of course, I talked with Joe about his future last season. But he has been playing for three years for Rangers and it’s the natural way for players’ careers.
“Of course, Joe also wants to develop himself even further and see where his level is, and of course, playing in the Premier League there won’t be any stronger leagues than that in the world.
“Joe was a very important player for us. He has been really good for this club for the last few years. His development was really good but, at the moment, he has the ambition to play in the Premier League.
“That is his ambition and that is probably what is going to happen in the near future, but it is what you want as a club. To get talented players into the club, develop them into really good players. The player has their own ambitions but what he has done for this club has been fantastic.”
