After defeating the Tornadoes at their home ground, Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium, Minna, in the first stanza, coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and his team are determined to extend their unbeaten streak and maintain their momentum.

With the addition of new talents like Ikechukwu Mgbemena, Ejike Uzoechi, Patrick Egeonu, Michael Uchebo, and Amobi Ezeaku to a squad that secured a 4th place finish in the first round, Rangers’ fans can look forward to an exciting second stanza.

Defensive stalwart Austin Opara, who played every minute of the first round, expressed confidence in their preparations:
“It’s going to be a challenging second stanza, but our goal is clear—to make Enugu a fortress. Tornadoes will fight for points, but we are focused on starting strong. We have what it takes to compete for the title again.”

Left-back Evans Ogbonda echoed this sentiment, saying, “We’ve worked hard during the break, and I’m confident Niger Tornadoes won’t derail our plans. Starting the second round with a win is crucial for our season’s goals.”

Bashir Usman, who scored the winning goal in the reverse fixture, is optimistic about facing his former club:
“No two matches are the same, but our preparation has been thorough. We respect Tornadoes as tough opponents, but we aim to secure a great result.”

Historically, Rangers have dominated this fixture, with ten wins, eleven draws, and three losses in their last 24 encounters. Recent form also favors the Flying Antelopes, who boast three wins, two draws, and one loss in their last six games, while Tornadoes have managed two wins and four losses in the same period.

Fans can expect an exciting contest as Rangers look to make a strong statement in the title race.
