Nigeria’s fast-rising 16-year-old boxing sensation, Raheem Animashaun (aka Baddo) is blowing hot ahead of his West African title fight with Gboja Coffi of Benin Republic, who he promised to rip apart on Saturday in Lagos, Sports247 reports.

Animashaun, who in September 2024 became Nigeria’s youngest international champion when he beat Ghana’s Richman Ashelley to clinch the West African Boxing Union (WABU) lightwelter weight belt, promised another thrilling outing at Teslim Bologun Stadium in Surulere.
The bout will be one of the big moments to look out for on what has been tagged GOTV Boxing Night 33 and Animashaun, who won the belt with a sixth round technical knock out of Ashelley at the National Institute for Sports (NIS) Gymnasium Hall, promised that he will return home with his title intact, because he is in top shape and fully focused on the task ahead of him.
The youngster, who had earlier tagged himself as a combination of six legends of boxing – Rocky Maciano, Azumah Nelson, Manny Pacquiao, Sugar Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson and Anthony Joshua – took to social media to shore up publicity for the upcoming bout, which he believes will be another moment of victory for ‘The King of Thrash Talk.’
Animashaun declared, “Boxing fans and friends on Facebook, WhatsApp, Tik Tok and Instagram, come and see my fight at Teslim Balogun Stadium on 26th April. I’ll be fighting Gboja Coffi, a Benin Republican. Once again, you guys should come out to support your boy, Baddo Star Boy. The fight is going to be a real trailblazer.”
Animashsun then spoke about the factors he believes will give him victory on Saturday night, as he pointed to the fact that he is looking fit and trim as always; because he never stops training ahead of each outing in the roped square.
“As you can see, I’m always training. I’m fit and always ready to battle. I’ve been training since I was three. You guys know I was born ready for boxing. I’m always ready for this kind of thing.”
He concluded with a stern declaration that the Beninoise invader will not return to his country with victory in the kitty, as the only way Animashaun can make Nigerians happy is by retaining his title on the night of fights in Lagos.
“Coffi said he’s gunning for my title, and he wants this belt for the best boxer of the night. But, no, I’m still the best boxer of the night and of years ago. I’m the king of thrash talk in Nigeria. Anybody who is ready, come up and challenge your champion. My name is Animashaun Raheem,” he concluded in a style reminiscent of the talking skills of iconic heavyweight champ of the world, Mohammad Ali.
