Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna has been knocked out of the ongoing WTT Cup finals in Xinxiang, China after he was defeated 3-1 by Taiwan’s Lin Yun-ju on Thursday morning.
Yun-ju defeated Aruna 11-4 in the first set, before replicating the performance again in the second set and winning it 11-6 but Africa’s number one managed to win the third set 11-8.
The 21-year-old Taiwanese won the final round of the Men’s round of 16 ties 11-4 to proceed to the last eight phases of the exclusive competition.
The defeat is Aruna’s second setback in the space of one week after he was knocked out in the first round of the just concluded WTT Champions in Macao, China, by Sweden’s Anton Kallberg.
Sixteen elite players across the world are participating in the tournament, with $1 million prize money shared among the competitors.
