Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna has climbed to 20th in the ITTF world rankings following a stellar performance at the 2025 WTT Star Contender Doha.
Aruna, previously ranked 21st, showcased his skill by defeating Spain’s Alvaro Robles and Korea’s Park Ganghyeon to secure a place in the semifinals, becoming the only African male player to achieve this milestone twice at a WTT Star Contender event.
However, his journey ended in the semifinals against Japan’s Tomokazu Harimoto, the tournament’s top seed, who claimed victory in straight sets (11-9, 11-3, 11-5).
Despite the setback, Aruna’s impressive run earned him valuable ranking points, cementing his position among the world’s elite table tennis players.
