In an interview with Sports 247, she highlighted the importance of PUMA’s participation in this remarkable initiative.
One of the organizers, a friend of the PUMA family and the driving force behind the LAB Memorial Foundation reached out to PUMA for support. The foundation’s dedication to youth development and its positive impact on the community struck a chord with PUMA. Bamgbose explained, “We wanted to sponsor the event and also bring more awareness to the memorial foundation and its players.”
This marks the first time PUMA has sponsored this event, and they are enthusiastic about future collaborations. “This is our first time sponsoring this, and we hope to sponsor more,” she affirmed.
Bamgbose also shared her thoughts on grassroots football in Nigeria, emphasizing PUMA’s commitment to sports development. She acknowledged the challenges in government support for sports and expressed PUMA’s determination to fill the gap. “As a company, it is honestly up to us to do things like this, and even as we keep doing this, we hope to continue bringing visibility and awareness,” she stated.
When asked about the sustainability of grassroots football based on her observations during the tournament, Bamgbose expressed optimism. She praised the exceptional talent displayed by the young players and firmly believes in their potential. “The talent is crazy,” she exclaimed. “With all the support, these players can actually go far. It’s amazing, and really all we have to do is continue supporting and ensuring that we have things for them to fall back on. Sports is the way to go.”
