Kano Pillars have emerged champions of the Men’s Prudent Energy Handball League champions after defeating De Defenders 31-29 on the final day at Rowe Park, Yaba on Wednesday.
With Safety Shooters triumph over holders Niger United, the Pyramid team required at least a draw to confirm their title success with a final day win of the domestic season in Lagos.
Having gained a 15-11 first-half lead, the Kano outfit maintained their lead over the Civil Defense side till the end to deny the Federal Road Safety Corps a season double on the final day.
At the end of the second season, Kano ended at the summit of the table with 38 points from 22 games, securing 19 victories and only losing thrice.
They were followed by Safety Shooters with 36 points and Niger United with 34 points in second and third place respectively.
For securing this season’s title, Kano Pillars were one million naira richer as champions, while second Safety Shooters and third Niger United went home with N750,000 and N500,000 respectively
