Former House of Representatives member, Sani Kutigi motivated the players and coaches of Niger United at the ongoing 2020 Prudent Energy Handball League in Abuja.
Hon Kutigi rewarded the Niger United team with the sum of a hundred thousand naira (N100,000) after they defeated Delta Force by 34 to 25 goals on Wednesday.
He charged the players of Niger United not to be discouraged by their current predicament adding that the team will rise again.
He said, “When I heard over the news that Niger United Handball Club lost 7 consecutive matches, I was sad because of the pedigree of the handball team. I came here to boost the morale of the handball team and I am excited they won their second game in the league.
“The only way I feel I can motivate the players is by making my donations to the best handball club in Sub Saharan Africa. I urged you (Niger United) not to discourage; as the future will be bright and we shall rise again”.
He commended Sam Ocheho led the board of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) for reshaping and reviving the league.
The former chairman of Niger Flickers said, “This is the first time after 7 years that I will be watching quality handball. The orgainsation, officiating, and skills exhibited by the players are top-notch. Sam Ocheho is doing well and I urged the handball family to support him in his quest to take handball to the promised land.
