The clinic, scheduled to take place from March 3rd to 7th, 2025, at the NUJ Press Centre, Ekeki, Yenagoa, will be conducted by seasoned football experts, led by NFF Technical Director, Augustine Eguavoen. Other resource persons include Ladan Bosso (Chairman, Nigerian Coaches Association & Bayelsa United Coach), ex-international Edema Fuludu, Ibrahim Gwadabe, and Fatai Adejumo.

Disclosing this to newsmen, the Director General of the Prosperity Cup Central Organizing Committee, Mr. Ono Akpe, emphasized that fifty coaches will participate in the clinic, which is one of two scheduled for this year’s tournament.

Akpe highlighted that the goal of the clinic is to enhance the technical and tactical abilities of grassroots coaches, ensuring that football enthusiasts in Bayelsa witness quality games. He stated that this initiative aligns with Governor Douye Diri’s vision of empowering Bayelsans through sports development under the Assured Prosperity agenda.

Beyond winning trophies and prize money, Akpe stressed that the state government is committed to developing grassroots coaches, preparing them for the NFF D Coaching License, which serves as a pathway to the prestigious CAF B-License.

He noted that the second phase of the coaching clinic will take place after the grand finale, where participating coaches will receive certificates.

Akpe urged grassroots coaches in the state to take advantage of this opportunity to embrace modern coaching techniques in line with global standards. He also appreciated Governor Douye Diri, Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, and Commissioner for Sports Development, Dr. Daniel Igali, for their unwavering support of grassroots football in Bayelsa.

Furthermore, he called on Bayelsa youths to stay away from social vices and leverage initiatives like the Prosperity Cup to showcase their talents and build meaningful careers in football.
