The African Khmer Unity cup 2023 enters week 6 this weekend at the Boueng Trabek Stadium Phnom Penh with 3 matches billed for the weekend.
Two matches will be played on Saturday and one match on Sunday as usual.
Imperial FC will take on Real Phnom Penh at the 5pm Kick off while League Professional Basic will slug it out with Peace United. Kick off at 7pm.
On Sunday, Ambassadors will face off with Lions FC starting from 8:00pm
Marlians FC will sit out this weekend.
The African Khmer Unity cup is being organized as a pre season tournament ahead of the 2023/24 Cambodia premier league with several CPL players on parade as well as potential CPL players.
Players like Bisan George, Kelechi George, Momoh Degule, Mathew Osas, Julius , Yemi, Paul Omogba, Gbenga Ajayi who have won the Cambodia Premier league on different occasions are thriling the fans week in week out with some great football and spectacular goals.
In Week 5, a total of 22 goals were scored in 3 games. Bisan George scored 5 past Real Phnom Penh to help Marlians to a 5-3 win while Gibson Ataihiru of Imperial got a a hattrick in a 6-1 mauling of Ambassdors on Sunday.
Kelechi George’s Later strike for Lions FC’s gave them a 4-3 win over Peace United in the second match of Saturday night.
Basic FC were rested this weekend and they remain top of the table with 10 points only ahead of Marlians on Goals difference. Imperial FC are 3rd on the table with 7 points followed by Lions FC with 5 points in fourth place.
Real Phnom Penh are 5th with three points while Peace United and Ambassadors are bottom two with 2 points respectively.
The top 4 teams will qualify for the Playoff Rounds to determine the Champions.
