Prince Nwoha Emmanuel Izuchukwu, a dedicated sports administrator and coach, shared his inspiring journey in football and his commitment to developing young talents in Imo State.
Prince Nwoha Emmanuel Izuchukwu has spent 14 years in the football profession, currently serving as both a sports administrator and a coach at Olympians United Football Academy in Imo State.

He began his football career at the tender age of 16 without any formal training due to the lack of sponsors. “I started my football career at 16. Despite not having sponsors, I’m happy to now undergo professional training at the NIS in Lagos State,” he said in an exclusive interview with Sports247.
Izuchukwu’s transition from player to coach was driven by his passion for the sport and his admiration for Italian coach Antonio Conte. “I played as a goalkeeper at Pepsi Football Academy before moving to Royal Boys Football Academy and Danish Football Academy.
My interest in coaching grew from following Antonio Conte’s management style. He has been my mentor, inspiring me to pursue coaching full-time,” he explained.
Izuchukwu emphasized the importance of grassroots development in Nigerian football. “To get things right, we need to focus on grassroots development. I have always recruited boys from the grassroots, even while playing.
My experience at NIS has equipped me with professional expertise, which I’m eager to implement at Olympians United Football Academy,” he stated.
The academy, which has been running for just over a year, aims to influence the society positively through football. “My motive for starting the academy is to enlighten and influence society, particularly in football.
Many young boys in my area get easily distracted by negative influences. I believe that with my experience and role, I can positively impact these boys and steer them towards a better path,” he shared.
Izuchukwu sees football as a unifying force, bringing together people from different backgrounds. “Football is a social tool that unites people. It helps build peace and camaraderie, even among those who were once enemies. This unity is what I hope to foster through my academy,” he added.
