A Lagos-based Nigeria Women Football League NWFL championship club, Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens on Wednesday unveiled new six players ahead of the new season.
The six players are Abdulazeez Aishat, Laniran Kate,Oladungbewo Taiwo Adejumo Temitope, Oyewunmi Temitope and Enigbokan Adefunke.
Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens are among the clubs that promoted from nationwide to championship league recently.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony held at the club owner’s residence in Lagos, the head coach of the team,Damilare Jaiyeola said the new players were selected based on their performances in the screening exercise and noted that Eletu Queens are ready for the championship.
“We are here to announce officially to the club management and media that we have recruited good and better players ahead of the new season. I am happy that all the players were selected from various states such as Lagos, Oyo, Ekiti, and the Benin Republic. This is to tell you that we are coming to the league with a formidable team and I believe that we would have a good outing at the end of the season,” he said.
Jaiyeola reminded the club management of its promises for the team ahead of the new season. He said the team still need some sporting equipment and a bus that would convey the team to the match venue.
He also said the players and coaching crew need to be motivated before and during the championship season.
“We are urging the management to assist us so that we can do better in the new season. We want our players to be paid and the coaching crew to be motivated too so that we can achieve our target at the end of the season. Our target is to get promotion to the premier league which is very possible if management can do their own part too,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the club chairman, Muftau Eletu said the management is happy about the success of the girls recorded recently and promised that all their demands would be addressed as soon as he discussed the issues with the club chairman, Prince Kazeem Eletu.
“I am aware of the challenges facing the Eletu Queens but be rest assured that all your demands would be resolved very soon. We are happy to have new players on the team and I believe that the team is more formidable than before. On behalf of the club chairman, Prince Kazeem Eletu, we welcome the new players to the Eletu family and wish them the best of luck in their careers,” he said.
Captain of the team who spoke earlier, Mosaku Bisola thanked the club management for their support during their camping in the nationwide league and Flying Captain Cup in Abuja but outlined the challenges the players are currently facing.
“My coach has said many things about our demands but I just want to appeal to the management to fulfill its promises because we players are ready to do well in the championship,” she said.
Some of the backroom staff of the Eletu Queens are Ogunjobi Ajayi Samuel as an assistant coach, Sannni Waziri as goalkeeper trainer, and Azeez Gift as chief medical personnel.
