MFM Football Club forced Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Club to 1-1 draw in a friendly match played at Agege Stadium, Lagos.
The friendly match was organized in preparation for Kazeem Eletu FC ahead of the invitational football tournament which begins next month in Morocco.
While MFM saw the friendly match as an assessment of the players who do not have enough playing time in the team.
The friendly match lived up to expectations as both teams played good football. Although Prince Kazeem Eletu were better at the beginning of the game as they dominated the possession before Daniel Chinedu Mbonu drew the first blood in the 18th minute.
The effort by MFM to cancel the goal deficit proved abortive as Prince Kazeem Eletu’s boys were tactically disciplined in defense and well-coordinated in the midfield.
In the early second half, MFM came with six changes at a time which forced the Eletu boys to play under pressure.
The situation got worse for the Eletu boys when Yoni Nokeeb was given a red card for his unruly behavior on the field of play.
The premier league side began to pile pressure on their opponents. Their effort was rewarded in the 75th minutes when Temiu Adebayo got a clear-cut chance and quickly converted to salvage a draw for his team.
Reacting to the match MFM Coach, Lekan Gabriel said it was a good match for his team saying that both teams played good football. He said his intention was to win their opponents unfortunately it ended in a stalemate.
“ It was not a bad match for us because our opponents gave us a good fight. We came to win but unfortunately, it ended in a draw. The match was an eye-opener and it allowed me to see some players who are no playing regularly for MFM,” he said.
In his own remark, Prince Kazeem Eletu coach, Gilles Hugon has expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance saying that his team are ready for the Morocco tourney. He said both teams played well but noted that his players were a little bit tired which gave their opponents an equalizer.
While Mbonu who netted for Prince Kazeem Eletu commended his teammates for their good performance.
Mbonu said he was happy to score against a Lagos-based premier club but pointed out that lack of experience denied them from winning the encounter.
