Head coach of Faban Football Club of Ikorodu, Akeem Fayefunmi has expressed satisfaction that his boys came out unhurt against Prince Kazeem Eletu FC in a friendly match played on Friday at Agege Stadium, Lagos.
Fayefunmi disclosed this after his team played a goalless draw with Prince Kazeem Eletu FC in a match watched by an appreciable crowd.
The friendly match was organized to prepare Prince Kazeem Eletu FC ahead of their Morocco invitational tournament scheduled to hold later this year.
Fayefunmi in a chat with Journalists in Lagos said the match was tough and happy that his players were able to salvage a draw at the end of regulation time.
“ I know it is going to be a tough game for us because Prince Kazeem Eletu are a good side. They have played series of friendlies and won many out of it. Playing draw with them was a good result because our club just started four months ago,” he said.
Fayefunmi admitted that Prince Kazeem Eletu were technically better in the second half but quickly commended his players for resilience, determination to hold their opponents to a goalless draw.
Head Coach of Prince Kazeem Eletu, Gilles Hogan said it was a good game and commended his players for their commitment and doggedness in the second half.
“ We played better in the second half. I am happy that the players increased the tempo of the game in the second half but unfortunately we could not convert our chances to win our opponents,” he said.
Captain of Prince Kazeem Eletu, Eletu Abayomi said his teammates gave good accounts of themselves, especially in the second half. Abayomi said his teammates played better than their opponents but failed to convert their chances before the full time.
Meanwhile, the match started on a bright note for both sides as Agu Precious missed close range in the 25th minute for the Eletu team. Faban made some incursion in the first half but poor finishing robbed them from scoring.
