Assistant coach of Prince Kazeem Eletu Football Club, Adegolu Oluwatimilehin Israel has expressed satisfaction with the team’s victory over Haliru Osegbeme Mamod, HOM football club in a recent friendly match played at Business School, Lekki, Lagos.
Eletu boys humbled HOM 2-1 in their home ground in an encounter watched by hundreds of football fans.
Israel who was elated with the team’s performance said he was not carried away with the victory and noted that the players still need to up their game in their subsequent matches.
“It was a good starting for us after we lost to Ajunwa FC some months ago. The essence of this friendly is to see my players how they adapt to the game plan and I am happy that our effort is rewarded,” he said.
Despite Eletu victory, Isreal admitted that work is still in progress in the team and charged his boys to remain focused and determined in their remaining friendly matches.
“It was a good match for us. We came up with our game plan and it worked for us. By and large, we can still do more in our subsequent matches.I can only encourage my boys to remain steadfast and focused in their remaining matches,” he said.
HOM coach, Mendieh Solomon commended the Eletu boys for the hard-fought victory saying that the better side won the game.
Abel Olufowobi scored the opening goal for the Eletu boys in the 9th minute to stamp their authority over their opponents.
Both teams played purposeful football as both teams created some scoring chances.
Uche Kalu got an equalizer for HOM before halftime. Bature Ibrahim of Eletu was given a marching order for lack of sportsmanship behavior.
The second half was a high tension-soaked game as both raised their game. Eletu who dominated the possession got their second goal through Mohammed Usman in the 58th minute to silence the home team fans.
Aside from scoring the second goal, the Eletu boys continued to dominate the possession as Divine Victor came close to scoring in the tail end of the game.
