Victor Simon goal in the 92th minutes was all Ajuwa FC needed to shatter unbeaten record of Prince Kazeem Eletu FC in a pulsating friendly match played at the Nathaniel Idowu astro turf pitch inside Unity primary school, Ajegunle.
Prince Kazeem Eletu who just resumed for new season suffered 1-2 defeat against home team, Ajuwa in a friendly match watched by hundreds of football fans.
Eletu have been maintaining unbeaten run in their last twenty matches played so far but a late minute’s goal by Simon ended their unbeaten record.
Assistant coach of Prince Kazeem Eletu FC, Oluwadamilare Idowu expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance despite defeat noted that both teams played tactical game throughout the encounter.
Precious Agu who scored for the Eletu boys said it was a very painful result despite the team’s performance but promised to bounce back in their next game.
“It was a good match for us but unfortunately we conceded late goal which was a very painful.We started well and controlled the game but we were unlucky against our opponents today.We would bounce back in our next friendly game,”he said.
Ajunwa coach, Onozimare Stanley expressed delight that he stopped unbeaten record of Eletu and commended his boys for the job well done.
“Beating Eletu team is something I need to celebrate.Eletu are formidable and their players are very young and fast on the ball so beating them would give me confidence to play tougher teams in days to come,”he said.
Precious Agu opened the goal scoring for Eletu in the 37th minutes but the goal was quickly cancelled when Junior Issa equalized for his team in the 42th minutes.
The second half was highly competitive as both teams missed some scoring chances.
When the football fans were waiting for referee to signal the final whistle Simon scored the late goal to shatter unbeaten run of Eletu boys and ended the high tension soaked friendly game 2-1 in favour of home team.
Meanwhile Ajuwa are current champions of fusion Championship played last season at the FIFA legacy pitch of national stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
