In a press briefing at Ilorin’s Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, Minister Enoh assures meticulous planning for success, marking a decade since Nigeria’s last AFCON triumph.
The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, has officially conveyed the unreserved support of the Presidency for the Super Eagles’ pursuit of victory in the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to commence in January 2024 in Cote D’Ivoire.

This affirmation was made during the Minister’s visit to Kwara State, emphasizing the backing as a crucial factor in Nigeria’s quest for AFCON glory.
“We are hoping that we are going to make the best out of it. We have the full backing of the president,” stated Minister Enoh to newsmen at the airport, highlighting the resolute commitment and belief in the capabilities of Nigeria’s Senior Men’s National team.
This unwavering support from the Presidency underscores the collective ambition to secure victory at AFCON, echoing the national team’s last triumph in South Africa a decade ago.
Minister Enoh expressed the collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Sports Development and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to ensure meticulous planning and execution for a triumphant tournament.
The Ministry, in close coordination with the NFF, is dedicated to creating an environment conducive to the Super Eagles’ success on the continental stage.
As the Super Eagles gear up for the AFCON challenge, they find themselves in Group A alongside host nation Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea.
With a resounding desire for success and the strong support of the Presidency, Nigeria’s football stars are poised to showcase their prowess and determination, aiming to bring home the coveted AFCON trophy after a decade-long wait.
