In an exclusive interview with Sports247, President of the Nigerian Amputee Football Federation, Chief Paul Maduakor, extended heartfelt New Year wishes to every Nigerian, underlining the significance of 2024 as a year brimming with activity for amputee football in the country.
Expressing his joy at the collective journey into the new year, Maduakor emphasized the ample opportunities awaiting the Nigeria Amputee Football Federation (NAFF) and extended a call to the corporate world to harness and leverage these prospects. The highlight of the year for the male amputee team is the Amputee Nations Cup, a pivotal tournament that serves as the qualifier for the World Cup. Scheduled for April in Egypt, the Nations Cup holds immense significance for the team’s global aspirations.
Maduakor revealed, “Already our female team will be representing Nigeria at the first female Amputee World Cup in November in Colombia.” As the popularity of Nigerian Amputee football continues to soar, he urged corporate entities to tap into the growing enthusiasm surrounding the sport.
The President declared 2024 as the “Year of Amputee Football,” promising a calendar full of competitions and activities. He extended gratitude to everyone who has supported and continues to support the amputee football cause. “This is the time for you to come and support us, and in the process, there is something for everyone—players, coaches, and board members,” he asserted.
