The President of the Island All Stars Sports Club has highlighted the motives behind the Above 45 Football Competition for members of the club which took place in Lagos on Saturday, 5 October 2024, Sports247 reports .
The Island All Stars Sports Club Above 45 Football Competition which took place at the Lagos Business School Arena as men who above the age of 45 defied the early morning showers to show their football skills as Team Tony Tex defeated Team Life Station by 1-0.
The President of the club, Ikenna Maduagu who played for Team Life Station says the motive behind the concept is to engage the members of the club who are relatively less active, but who are willing to play football.

In a chat with our correspondent, Ikenna Maduagu said : ” This is for the above 45 years old members who are not so active or relatively inactive for physical activities”.
“Those members who are so busy and don’t have time to come out and train every Saturday but who are willing to play and exercise their bodies , so today we are created the avenue for them.”
The president went further to explain how the teams derived their names and the composition of the players
“This is a mix of not so young and old members , the above 45 years old members were divided into two teams and the two teams have their sponsors, Real Tony Tex and Life Station, respectively, that is how the two names of the team were generated.” ikenna explained.
The President revealed that the Island All Stars Sports Club , Above 45 Football Competition marked the beginning of the sporting activities and end of the program for the club and the next phase will be the intra football competition for all members of the club irrespective of their ages .
“We are looking for the year ending events , there is going to be an intra football competition for members, which is going to be in a league format with two matches every Saturday for six weeks, beyond football its going to be a social gathering of the members of the club, a celebration of love and networking for business, its going to start in two weeks time right here ” Ikenna Affirmed.
The Island All Stars Sports Club is a Sports and Social Club based in Lagos with over 300 members from all walks of life.
