The President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), Samuel Ocheho, has called on the Plateau Peacocks to make Nigeria proud as they compete in the Africa Club Handball Championship in Laayoun, Morocco.
The Peacocks, who finished third in the 2023 Ardova Handball Premier League, are in Group C alongside Petro Atletico (Angola), Andre Nziko (Cameroon), and US Nousasser (Morocco).
The team, led by Coach Yusuf Abdukadir, is currently in Casablanca and will face Petro Atletico in their first match on Friday.
Ocheho expressed confidence in the coaching staff, stating, “The tactical acumen of Coach Yusuf Abdukadir and his crew is unquestionable. They’ve proven time and again that they are capable, and I believe they will represent Nigeria well.”
He further encouraged the team to exhibit good sportsmanship, saying, “I urge them to be of good conduct both on and off the court. The entire Nigerian handball family is behind them.”
Coach Abdukadir also spoke positively from Casablanca, acknowledging the support of Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and the HFN.
He promised that the team would repay the faith shown in them by representing Nigeria with pride at the championship.
