President Federation Cup: NNL Boss Congratulates El-Kanemi Warriors On Victory

The Chairman of Nigeria National League (NNL) George Aluo has congratulated El-Kanemi Warriors Football Club of Maiduguri for their victory over Abia Warriors of Umuahia in the President Federation Cup final, which was held on Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos.

After victories in 1991 and 1992, the coach Aliyu Zubairu boys defeated the Abia Warriors, who were coached by Berthel Orji, 2-0 to win their third championship in Nigeria’s oldest football league.

George Aluo wrote in a greeting to the winning squad: “You have demonstrated that you are deserving NNL ambassadors.Your NPFL ticket was well deserved. We are happy of El Kanemi’s accomplishment and the victory for NNL,”  “El Kanemi’s feat also defines the quality of NNL and underscores the fact that it is truly the most Important league in Nigeria.”

He also predicted that the Maiduguri-based side will do well in the continent next season: “I’m sure El Kanemi will take their fine run into the continent where they would be flying Nigeria’s flag in the CAF Confederations Cup.”

El-Kanemi Warriors qualified for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) along with Nasarawa United, Beyond Limits Football Academy, and Ikorodu City from the recently finished NNL Super eight in Enugu.
