Presidency Backs Super Eagles Coach Eric Chelle For 2026 World Cup Qualification

The Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka, has assured Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle of the president’s full backing in his quest to lead Nigeria to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Adeboye gave this assurance during a courtesy visit by Chelle to his office in Abuja, where they discussed strategies to ensure the national team’s success. He reaffirmed that President Tinubu, a passionate supporter of sports, is committed to providing the necessary resources for Chelle to excel.

“I want to thank our coach, Chelle, for the visit, and I want to assure him that the president is fully in support of him to succeed. The first assignment is the World Cup qualifiers this month, and the president has put in place everything to ensure that the Eagles qualify,” Adeboye stated.

He further emphasized the importance of the World Cup to Nigerians, stressing that stakeholders are working tirelessly to secure Nigeria’s place at the tournament.

“The World Cup is very important to Nigerians, and we must give our best to get the ticket. As the special assistant to the president, I, along with the sports commission, will do everything possible to support the coach in taking the Eagles to the promised land,” he added.

Chelle’s visit to the presidential aide highlights his dedication to the task ahead, as he continues to map out strategies for the team’s success. With the presidency’s support, the Super Eagles now have a strong foundation to push for World Cup qualification.
