In line with the earlier directives by the Presidential Task Force On COVID-19 and the Ministry of Youth And Sports Development before the opening of contact sports in the nation, the Acting General Manager of Crown Football Club of Ogbomoso, Mr. Oyekunle Oyeleye, has disclosed that no fans shall be allowed into the stadium to watch all the preseason friendly games of their darling team until a counter directive is issued.
This was made available in a release to Crown Media after a brief management meeting at the club’s new secretariat office beside University Baptist Church, along the old Ogbomoso-Ilorin expressway.
” No fans shall be allowed into the stadium to watch any of our preseason friendly games because we must follow strictly the Covid-19 protocols as mandated by the PTF on Covid-19 and the Federal Ministry of Youth And Sports Development.
” All players and officials will have their hands washed and sanitized and be compelled to use nose masks while infrared thermometer will be used for checking before entry into the stadium for the games.
” It is very unfortunate that our fans will not be allowed entry. It is the directives from above and as law-abiding as we have always been, we must comply.
Mr. Oyeleye Oyekunle pleaded with the supporters and fans of the Ajilete Warriors to accept the new directives and assured them of ease by the PTF as Covid-19 cases reduced.
” It won’t continue forever like this. I assure the passionate lovers of Crown FC that things will normalise in the soonest possible time and the situation will be reviewed to enable them to watch their darling Crown FC in action. Please bear with us, he concluded.
It should be recalled that the PTF is considering another lockdown following the recent increase in Covid-19 cases.
To this end, and as part of measures to curb the spread, the PTF and Federal Ministry of Youth And Sports Development have advised the Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon Phillip Shaibu, and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to ensure no spectator is allowed into the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin when Nigeria play host to Sierra Leone.
