The founding Captain of the defunct Larry Angels football club of Port Harcourt, ACP Chioma Ajunwa (MON) was filled with grief upon the confirmation of the death of Chief Larry Eze.
” Larry Eze can never be forgotten in the history of the development of women’s football in Nigeria.
I played for his team for eight good years and was the first captain of Larry Angels.
I am proud to have recruited coaches Rita Nwadike, Uche Eucharia, Nkechi Nmbilitam, Officer Patience Agbaritamu and Florence Omagbemi whose stay was brief in the team”.
Chief(Mrs) Chioma Ajunwa who happens to be the only individual Olympic Gold medalist Nigeria has ever produced remembers with happiness that Chief Larry provided the springboard upon which her sporting career germinated.
” A valuable, respected son of the Mbaise Nation Larry Eze has fallen and he would forever be remembered “. She concluded.
Chioma Ajunwa excelled in football as she later represented Nigeria in the maiden edition of the women’s world cup in China 91. She later delved into track and field events and was rewarded with the highest crown any athlete would crave for, a gold medal in the long jump at the Olympics in Atalanta 96.
