Some power-lifters to represent Nigeria at the forthcoming Para-Power Lifting World Cup have shown their frustrations over the lack of training equipments at their disposal and state of the poor training facilities available to them ahead of the championships.
With the World Cup Championships scheduled to hold from Feb. 12 to Feb. 15 in Abuja, the athletes and their coaches revealed at the power gym in the National Stadium, Lagos, that shortage of equipment was affecting their training schedule.
The athletes, therefore, urged the Nigeria Power Lifting Federation (PLF) to provide additional facilities to enable the Nigerian contingent come top in the championships.
Coach of the power lifters, Patience Igbiti, said that inadequate equipment was taking its toll on the athletes.
‘The athletes are training seriously, and there has been a remarkable improvement, however, the equipment for training is slowing down our progress, due to the fact that we are short of equipment”, Igbiti lamented.
“On stable grounds, there should be six to seven benches, but we are managing just two which is prolonging the training, for us to represent the country well and perform at our optimum best, we need this facilities to aid our success”, she added.
