The General Coordinator of the Lagos Women Run, Tayo Popoola, is full of plaudits for the Lagos State government for making the Lagos Women Run the most expensive on the African continent.
Popoola disclosed that, for this year’s edition of the Lagos Women Run, which is the fifth, the Lagos State government is spending a whopping N100 million for the general organization of the 10kilometre road race.
This she stated has not just up the international standard of the Women’s Run but also made it bigger and better, the eventual winner of the Elite Actual Race will go home with a cash prize of N1million, with the other top ten winners also getting mouth-watering cash prizes befitting of a world-class road race.
Popoola added that, with this very laudable involvement and magnanimity of the Lagos State government, the Lagos Women Run 2020 has become the most expensive women’s run in Africa, as well as the first and only virtual women’s run in the continent.
“We say a very big thank you to the state government for helping to uplift us and indeed uplift Lagos as the host of the first and only virtual run in Nigeria and the first and only virtual women run in Africa.
“For the very first time, there will Live Tracking of runners using Google Maps (Distance Covered, Time used and Calories), Milestone Check-ins using Camera Pictures from Phone, Live Audio Commentary, and Live Video interaction for runners. We have indeed been blessed by the Lagos State Government,” Tayo Popoola said.
