Players’ union sets up 19- man task force

Nigeria’s foremost players union, the National Association of Nigerian Professional footballers(NANPF), led by former Nigeria international Tijani Babangida, MON has constituted a 19 member Task Force for the progress of the union.

According to a press release signed by the Secretary General of NANPF, Comrade Austin Popo, setting up the task force became necessary due to the increasing needs and demands of the players’ union to explore and tap from the deep knowledge and experience of its members that cuts across other sectors of the society, to support the National Administrative Council ( NAC) of the union in charting a new course to advance the union’s goals and objectives.

The task force, is to amongst other objectives, interface and engage all necessary and relevant government agencies, corporate bodies, well placed individuals and football stake holders. On activities and statutory mandates that has direct or indirect impact on the development and general welfare of Nigeria footballers within and outside the country.

Further more, the task force is expected to generate and work out proposals that will improve both the attractiveness of the union and football to the general public and specifically to our high profile footballers all across the globe.

Towards ensuring massive support for the union’s work, as well as help to put in place necessary mechanism in pursuing the union’s rights and access to statutory funding and effective participation in football governing processes. Which are designed to protect the rights and promote the interest of Nigeria footballers in line with global best practices.

The press release revealed the names on the task force to include some members of its National Administrative Council (NAC), as well as some past and present footbalIers. And it includes; Tijani Babangida,who is NANPF’s President, Clement Temile,Dr Brown Ogbeifun, Oladunni Oyekale, Mutiu Adepoju, Daniel Amokachi, Pascal Patrick, Chikelue Iloenyosi, Abdul Sule, Nasiru Jubril, Seyi Olofinjana, Ahmed Musa, Chinedu Amadi, Barr Audu .M Lawal, Abe Sunday, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Jibo Bello, Pepsie Adiukwu and Comrade Austin popo.
