It was a dramatic Friday for the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they were pecked back from 4 goals & held to a draw by the Leone stars of Sierra Leone at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
Now let’s take a look at how each Nigerian players fared in the Match
MADUKA OKOYE (4/10)
The Sparta Rotterdam Goalkeeper would feel very bad after he let in 4 goals in his debut match for the Super Eagles. He should have done more to at least save the Game for Nigeria. It was a below-average performance for me by Okoye Maduka. I pray he redeems himself in the reverse fixture in Freetown on Tuesday.
WILLIAM TROOST-EKONG (5/10)
The Vice-Captain had a good first half but an average second half. He was a prime suspect in Sierra Leone’s second goal.
LEON BALOGUN (6/10)
The former Brighton and Wigan defender had a great first but was a suspect in Sierra Leone’s first goal. He was substituted in the second half and replaced by Semi Ajayi.
ZAIDU SANUSI (6/10)
The Fc Porto left-back assisted Victor Osimhen for the Second goal and was a big threat going forward.
KEVIN AKPOGUMA (5/10)
He had an average performance and is yet to convince as the best right-back for the Eagles.
JOE ARIBO (5/10)
The Rangers Midfielder was average in the match. He wasn’t as influential as he was in his club side, probably due to his pairing with Etebo.
OGHENEKARO ETEBO (6/10)
The Stoke Loanee was vital for the Eagles going forward and pressing the Leone stars even though his ability to help the defence was average
SAMUEL CHUKWUEZE (7.5/10)
The young talented Villarreal attacker was superb in the first half as he was a menace to the Leone Stars who couldn’t just stop him. He scored Eagles’ fourth goal after a great assist from Victor Osimhen. He was later replaced in the second half by Chidera Ejuke.
ALEX IWOBI (7.5/10)
The Everton attacker was great in the first half scoring two good goals. He was however wanting in the second half of the game as he couldn’t continue the great form he had in the opening half.
AHMED MUSA (4.5/10)
He had a below-average performance in the match based on his standard. He was the captain on the day and was replaced by Kelechi Iheanacho who had a better game than him.
VICTOR OSIMHEN (7/10)
He was a huge threat to the Sierra Leone Side. He scored Nigeria’s second goal and even assisted the third and the fourth goal. He was later replaced in the second half by Paul Onuachu due to an injury he sustained.
SEMI AJAYI (4.5/10)
He replaced Leon Balogun at the heart of defence in the second half but had a bad outing as he was part of the defenders that conceded three goals in the final 18minutes of normal time as the Super Eagles suffered a heavy Collapse.
KELECHI IHEANACHO (5/10)
The Leicester City attacker replaced the Non- influential Captain Ahmed Musa on the day and he added some bite to the Eagles attack. He could have scored a late winner in the game with some couple of free kicks.
CHIDERA EJUKE (2/10)
After replacing the Influential Villareal attacker Samuel Chukwueze late in the second half, he barely made any impact in the game.
PAUL ONUACHU (3/10)
It was yet another poor performance for the tall Eagles striker who replaced the in form and injured Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. He didn’t have much impact after coming on.
